Extra-long staple cotton in a Giza/Australian cotton blend, regarded as some of the world's highest quality and finest of cottons, with an unbelievably soft and luxurious hand feel unlike any ordinary cotton.
Design inspired by retro gym coach's polo shirt, featuring:
- Longer collar points with collar roll.
- Longer short sleeves, sitting about 2.5 - 3 inches above the elbow, covering most of the upper arm for a more elegant look in contrast to modern polos that stop mid-bicep.
- Wide ribbed cuffs and hem, keeping the top well fitted around the body, enabling ease of movement, and for a more elegant look.
- Ribbed cuffs and hem designed to emulate the material of the elastic cuffs and waist band on retro sweatshirts for additional comfort.
- Body of sweater tapers slightly from the chest down to the hem to give a more fitted, sporty look.
These smarter aspects make the polo a more versatile "smart casual" piece, enabling you to wear it with both casual clothing or smart clothing such as trousers and tailoring.
The body length is designed so that it can be worn tucked into trousers or untucked if you prefer a more casual look. When untucked, the elastic waist band keeps the hem of the polo on the waist allowing the fabric to drape over naturally.
The navy colour we have chosen is dark, making it easy to pair with a multitude of different colours.

To help choose the correct size, it is recommended that you measure one of your existing polo shirts or t-shirts with the best fit and compare the measurements below. Please note that some shrinkage (up to around 5%) may occur after the first few washes (this translates to for example, around 2-3cm in body length, around 1-2cm in chest width etc.). Even then, we would recommend taking your usual size as the garment is made slightly wider and longer to accommodate this shrinkage.

Quality of fabric: 100% extra-long staple cotton crafted from a blend of Egyptian Giza cotton and Australian cotton. The term "extra long staple" cotton refers to cotton fibers that are exceptionally long, known for their qualities that result in some of the softest and most luxurious fabrics. Extra-long staple cottons are also valued for their superior strength, ensuing a garment that lasts. Given the exact conditions that these cottons need to be cultivated under, they are extraordinarily rare.
Quality of make: the coach polo is assembled by a garment maker in Japan that has been operating since 1950, specialising in jersey and classic sportswear apparel, with the polo shirt being one of their primary areas of expertise, in particular, the crafting of the perfect collar. They exemplify the dogged commitment to precision that is prevalent throughout Japanese culture.
Garment Care

Washing:
Cold machine wash only.
When washing in the washing machine, we recommend putting the polo shirt in a wash bag to help minimise the risk of damage to the buttons, stitching and fabric.
Use a low spin cycle, as aggressive spinning could cause damage.
Some shrinkage (up to around 5%) may occur after the first few washes (this translates to for example, around 2-3cm in body length, around 1-2cm in chest width etc.). The garment is therefore made slightly wider and longer to accommodate this shrinkage. Please check size chart above.
Wash dark colours separately from white or light colours.
Colour transfer may occur when washing.
Do not use fluorescent brightener.
After wash:
Dry flat away from direct sunlight, ensuring there are no sharp edges or creases when garment is still wet.
It is best to avoid ironing as ironing runs the risk of further fabric shrinkage and shining.
But if you have to iron, use the lowest heat setting, use ironing cloth to act as barrier between fabric and iron and use a well padded ironing board. Although there is still no guarantee that shrinkage and/or shining will not occur, these steps would help minimise the risk.
