Styling the cashmere silk tennis polo in dark brown

With the Wimbledon still fresh on our minds and the summer in full swing, we thought it would be a good time to talk about another one of our favourite spring summer pieces, the cashmere silk tennis polo in dark brown.

Exquisite Material

Our cashmere silk tennis polo is inspired by vintage pre-1950s tennis tops, with their signature longer short sleeves and larger spread collars.

They would have been knitted too, just like ours is, except ours is crafted using the world’s finest, luxurious cashmere silk yarn from Italian fine yarn experts Cariaggi Lanificio, giving the piece an unimaginably soft, “melt in your hand” texture, and a light, airy and relaxed feel when worn.

With the mix of silk within the cashmere, it makes the knitted fabric much lighter than 100% cashmere, thus keeping the incomparable softness you get from cashmere, but allowing it to be a lot lighter and breezier, perfect for warmer weather when you do not want to compromise on the quality of clothing you are wearing but want to feel exceedingly comfortable.

Design and Colour

The dark brown is a deliberate colour choice - although dark, it is still rich and the silk really helps to give the texture a lift, giving the material life and preventing it from looking too dull as some polos in dark colours have the danger of becoming.

The brown horn buttons also help to complement the brown of the polo, giving the piece a minimal, harmonious look.

As a homage to the original tennis polos, we’ve designed the short sleeves to be slightly longer than usual, covering the bicep for a more elegant look.

It also has wider cuffs and hem, for a more vintage look:

Styling

The dark brown colour looks great with a variety of different outfits. For tonal dressing, the tennis polo would go particularly well with oat, cream, tan, and other shades of brown.

The silkiness of the texture and darkness of the material also makes it great not only as a casual piece to be worn with shorts or casual trousers, but also more formally, as a shirt substitute, with a summer suit:

For a smart casual summer look, you can pair the tennis polo with cream trousers, and our superfine lambswool tennis cardigan in oatmeal, like so:

For a more casual look, it can also be paired with jeans, here we’ve stayed with the cream/brown theme by pairing with white jeans, but you can swap them out for medium to dark wash jeans, which will look just as great:

For an outfit that’s a little different and casual, you can wear the polo with a denim jacket or chore coat as well, as we have done here:
