Styling the Cashmere Polo Shirt

The polo shirt is a classic piece and the perfect item for smart casual outfits, ideal for both the office and social settings alike.

Our polo shirt is knitted in Scotland, using a luxurious, hefty 2-ply cashmere yarn from renowned Scottish mill Todd & Duncan. Knitted in dense stitch with an abundance of cashmere, characteristic of Scottish made knitwear, it is made to withstand regular wear and last years.

Given the cashmere polo shirt's mid weight, it is the ideal sweater for this current weather, when it's cold, but not freezing.

In contrast to a lot polo shirts which have plastic buttons, our cashmere polo shirt is furnished with dark brown real horn buttons, an extravagance that is now a rarity but which we feel is commensurate with the longevity of the exquisitely knitted cashmere.

This AW22 season, we have introduced two new colours, grey mélange and dark olive.

Outfit 1.

Cashmere Belmondo Rollneck in black
Charcoal suit
Black loafers

The grey mélange colour of the cashmere polo shirt goes well with the black on our cashmere Belmondo rollneck, and we’ve styled them together, to show how our knitwear can be elegantly layered in an outfit. We’ve finished the look off with a charcoal suit in a darker grey than the grey melange, to achieve a grey/black tonal appearance. The coherence of the colours working together creates a clean line from top to bottom and has a slimming effect.

Swapping the charcoal trousers out for a pair of cream trousers, but keeping the top the same makes this a more casual version of the outfit above.

Outfit 3.

Dark denim jeans

A simple casual Sunday outfit - dark denim with our cashmere polo shirt in grey mélange wanted to show how the colour of the grey can match well with dark denim, an item we are sure will be in the vast majority of people’s wardrobe.

Outfit 4.
Cashmere polo shirt in navy
Grey flannel trousers
Black leather biker

The most common way to style a polo shirt is probably with a tailored jacket, but it can look just as great with a more casual jacket, such as the black leather biker here. Given how dark the navy is, it works particularly well with black and dark grey as shown in this outfit.

Outfit 5.

Light wash jeans
Denim shirt
Black loafers

The cashmere polo shirt is great both as a piece to be worn on its own or as a layering piece, with a shirt underneath. We’ve styled it with a denim shirt, to complement the darker navy. The light wash jeans show that the cashmere polo shirt can be worn with both casual and smart bottoms.

We’ve finished the look with an olive/black check sport coat, to complement the navy/blue tones underneath.

Outfit 6.

Cashmere woven scarf in cognac
Dark wash jeans
Brown corduroy sport coat

The oatmeal works perfectly with dark wash jeans and other dark coloured bottoms. To complement the oatmeal colour, we styled it with our 100% cashmere scarf in cognac and a dark brown corduroy sport coat - to keep within a biege/brown colour palette.

Outfit 7.

Sand chinos

For this outfit, we paired the oatmeal with another light coloured bottom, but in contrasting colour to show that the cashmere polo can be worn equally with dark and light coloured trousers. We completed the outfit with our superfine lambswool shawl collar cardigan in dark brown to go with the oatmeal colour of the cashmere polo.

Grey flannel trousers
Brown Chelsea boots

Our brown on our cashmere polo is beautifully dark and elegant, making it look perfect with grey flannels as shown here.

It may not come naturally to some but for those very cold days, one stylish knit-on-knit combination is wear the mock neck underneath the polo, which we have done by pairing our cashmere polo shirt in dark brown with our superfine lambswool mock neck in oatmeal. It’s something different but elegant.

We finished off this look with our superfine lambswool shawl collar cardigan in camel, to go with the oatmeal and brown.

Outfit 9.

Olive/mustard bandana
Cream trousers

The cashmere polo shirt in dark olive is a versatile piece - given the number of greys and navys in one’s wardrobe, the dark olive is a welcome change and an elegant alternative to a grey or navy top, making it ideal to wear to contrast against a grey or navy suit or jacket. The dark olive being so muted, slides seamlessly into any outfit. It is most typically worn with a pair of dark denim, but we wanted to show you in this outfit that it can be paired with lighter bottoms too, such as a pair of cream trousers.

Here, we’ve styled the cashmere polo shirt in dark olive with our cashmere shawl collar cardigan in navy - the dark olive and navy working harmoniously together. We’ve lifted the the outfit with an olive/mustard bandana, to match the dark olive of the polo shirt. The cream trousers work as a break from the darker top half.
